About Matjaž

Music education at the University of Music and Visual Arts Graz in Austria, in the class of prof. Annemarie Zeller and Prof. Horst Zander. He completed his studies of solo singing and oratorio with honors, and already during his studies he worked with the city theater in Leoben, the Austrian Styrian Association of Musicians, etc.

He regularly collaborates with both Slovenian opera houses as well as with the Bühne Baden theater and the Lehar festival in Bad Ischl, where in recent years he has portrayed over 40 opera and operetta roles: Pinkerton   ("Madama Butterfly" ), Franz Waldung  ("Nymphs of the Rhine"), Don Narciso  ("The Turk in Italy"), Florindo  ( "Curious Women"), Don Jose  ("Carmen"), Alfredo  ("Traviata"), Ferrando ("Cosi van tutte"),   5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_Janez  ("Goldilocks"), Eisenstein  ("Bat"), Edwin  ("Goldilocks") Princess Chardaša"), Prinz Sou Chong  ("Land of Laughter"), Danilo  ("Merry Widow"), Wether   194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_("Werther"), Faust ("Faust"), Barinkay  ("Gypsy Baron"), Zarewitsch  ("Zarewitsch") , Herzog von Urbino , Caramello ("Night in Venice"), Georg Dumenil  ("Der Opernball"), Franjo  ("Gorenjski Nightingale"), Sulejman  ("1001 nights"), Ivan  ("Tehar nobles"),……

He participates in the performances of oratorio concerts and masses such as: Carmina Burana: C. Orff, Messiah: GFHändel, Jahreszeiten: J. Haydn, Magnificat:  J. S. Bach, Requiem : WA Mozart, Te deum:  A. Bruckner, Golgotha: F. Martin, etc., as well as evenings of solos by composers of various musical periods, e.g.: Schubert, Brahms, Schumann, Strauss, Debussy, Vilhar, Krek, Šivic, Vremšak, Lipovšek,...

In 2010, he made his debut with the Munich Symphony Orchestra in Munich, where he performed works by Italian composers, and on another invitation in 2013, under the baton of conductor Ken David Masur, he performed a program of works by Giuseppe Verdi at the Philharmonic am Gasteig. 

In the Slovenian Chamber Music Theater, he plays the role of Miranda's father in the opera Gentle Giant.
